What this covers
This policy explains what data scrolltide.co collects, why, and how it's handled. We keep this simple on purpose — we collect the minimum needed to run accounts, enforce fair use, and process payments.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account. We never store your password in plain text.
- Anonymous free-copy tracking— to enforce one free template copy per visitor before requiring an account, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address. We cannot reverse this hash back into your IP, and we don't store the raw address.
- Payment data — purchases are processed directly by our payment provider (PayPal, and in future Dodo Payments). We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and an order reference — we do not receive or store your card number.
- Account activity— when you sign up, sign in, make a purchase, or copy or download a template, we record that action along with its time, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. We keep this to prove that an account was used and that a purchase was delivered, which is what lets us respond to payment disputes and detect fraudulent or unauthorised use of an account. We don't use it to profile you, build advertising audiences, or track you across other websites.
- Session cookies— a cookie that keeps you logged in. It's functional only; we don't use it for advertising or cross-site tracking.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal data to anyone.
- We don't run third-party advertising trackers or ad pixels on the site.
- We don't share your email with anyone outside the payment processing needed to fulfill your purchase.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. Free-copy IP hashes are kept only as long as needed to enforce the one-copy limit. Account activity records are kept for 12 months and then deleted — long enough to cover the period in which a payment can still be disputed, and no longer. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
One limit on that: where we need a record to defend or resolve a payment dispute that is already open, or to meet a legal or accounting obligation, we keep the minimum needed for that purpose until it's concluded.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing privacy@scrolltide.co.
Children
Scrolltide is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
